Simpleview vs Tempest

Simpleview and Tempest are the two names that turn up most when a visitor bureau puts its website and CRM out to bid. Both work only with destinations, both build DMO websites, and both sell a CRM for partners and meetings sales.

Option AChoose Simpleview if

You want the broadest platform in the industry from one vendor, with data, booking and asset tools beyond the website and CRM.

  • You need a booking engine, an asset library or research products as well as a website.
  • Your partners and hotels already know the Simpleview extranet.
  • You want to see published line items before you ask for a quote.

Option BChoose Tempest if

You want a custom-built site and a DMO-made CRM from a smaller company that works only with destinations.

  • You want a custom-designed site rather than a templated one.
  • Your sales staff work Cvent RFPs and want them inside the CRM.
  • You'd like an agency that runs your digital marketing too.

They differ in size and in how much you can see before you ask. Simpleview, part of Granicus since 2024, counts 500+ destinations on its CMS and 1,000+ on its CRM, and publishes a full price list in the UK. Tempest counts 260+ DMO clients, 170+ on its iDSS CRM, and publishes no prices.

The third option

If what you want is a price you can read.

If you don't sell meetings and conventions, you may not need either CRM. Hiveway for Destinations is a visitor website, events with public submissions, partner listings, a newsletter and council-ready reports for one flat price, $999 a month (about $12,000 a year), with the build included and no multi-year term.

We're honest about the gap: Hiveway has no convention sales CRM, booking engine or economic impact modeling. If those matter, choose between the two above.

Questions, answered plainly.

Is Simpleview more expensive than Tempest?

We can't say from public sources. Simpleview's UK price list and several US contracts are public; Tempest publishes no prices and we found no contract with its figures. Ask both for the same line items in your RFP.

Do both integrate with Cvent?

Yes. Tempest launched a Cvent RFP integration for iDSS in 2022, and Simpleview's CRM integrates with Cvent too.

Is Simpleview still called Simpleview?

Granicus acquired Simpleview in September 2024 and now sells it as Granicus Destinations; the Simpleview name still appears on the product.
